Lifeline Cylce Cambodia Challenge

Story

At the beginning of this year, I successfully completed my training to be a Crisis Support Officer with Lifeline.  Since then, I have experienced first hand how important this service is to people who are in genuine crisis, who are overwhelmed by whatever life circumstances have dealt them, and who just need someone to hold their space for a while.  Whilst logging on to a shift in October, I came across the Lifeline Cycle Cambodia Challenge, 6 days cycling 350km across Cambodia to raise funds towards Lifeline’s Online Crisis Support Chat Service for people who would prefer to seek help and advice via real time, one-on-one, online conversation.   I have always been an advocate for the on-line service as this reaches a demographic who prefer to communicate electronically or through social media but it did surprise me to learn that 72% of callers to Lifeline are under 25 years of age, and of that 37% are unlikely to use the phone service if online is not available.  The online service also increases accessibility for people who are hearing impaired or deaf.  Cycling in Cambodia sounded like a pretty unique and exciting way to raise funds for and awareness of such a vital component of the Lifeline Services, so I signed up and here I am!

I'm starting really late in the game to raise funds so any contribution, big or small, will go a long way to helping me reach my goal.
